BASIC PHLEBOTOMY
This program of study is designed to introduce students to the field of phlebotomy and provide the student the opportunity to practice the skills of phlebotomy and become competent in the various specimen procedures and demonstrate infection control techniques.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

BPHL 101 – Basic Phlebotomy Theory – 24 hours
​
This course is designed to focus on issues that are foundations or related to Phlebotomy. This will include: Safety Phlebotomy Equipment, Phlebotomy Techniques, Challenges of Phlebotomy, Specimen Considerations, Special Procedures Specimen Preparation and Handling Blood Drawing.

BPHL 102 – Basic Phlebotomy Laboratory Procedures – 24 hours
​
This course is designed to introduce the student to Phlebotomy equipment, and to provide the student the opportunity to practice the skills of Phlebotomy with the aid of vascular access teaching aids. The student will become competent in the various specimen collection procedures and be required to demonstrate infection control techniques, as well as, accuracy, speed, and competency.
